Madden 11 Offers a Virtual Version of One of the Things I Hate Most About the NFL

An able-bodied linebacker has just fought the 330 pound left tackle who can bench 225 lbs 40 times. He sprinted around the chip block of the ultra speedy HB who raced to meet him. The ‘backer darts around him so he can pummel the 6 foot 4 inch quarterback who was standing in the pocket surveying his options.

He was standing there until the linebacker hits him with the force of a Mack truck. The linebacker and quarterback peel themselves off the turf gingerly and head to the sidelines for an official time out. What happens next is one of my least favorite things in all sports. It pisses me off until no end. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil. Here it is in all its virtual glory:

You are telling me this beast who just out-muscled the behemoth Left Tackle, raced around the speedy HB and took down the towering QB needs someone to squirt water in his mouth?  Dick Butkus is rolling over in his bed thinking about such a thing.

I can’t help but think the big money contracts have brought us to this.  Big bad linebackers need water caddies to take care of them during timeouts.  It is pathetic.

I know EA says “If it’s in the game, its in the game. ( Which is BS anyways)  But this is over the line and unnecessary. It is just another reason to pass on Madden 11.
