In Defense of: SyFy Movies, Exhibit A

Anyone who has ever lived with me will tell you that I have a soft spot for B movies.  Syfy shoots them out with the best of them.  Sure they are devoid of the gore, swearing and gratuitous nudity that make B movies great.  But they fill a need that I have to watch schlock from time to time with no visit to the video store/kiosk or additional funds.*

B Movies are more satisfying than a major motion picture that miss the mark but clearly had delusions of grandeur. I love a well made film, I have no need for the mediocre or unintentionally bad.

B films, specifically SyFy films know what they are and make no apologies.  Recently I enjoyed “Mega Piranha” starring Paul Logan – who channels Fred Ward in a major way, Tiffany – the former 80′s mall pop sensation and Barry Williams, aka Greg Brady as Secretary of State “Bob Grady”.  The film and its world are worth visiting for the last bit of casting alone, Greg Brady, Secretary of State.

Below is an absurd scene from the above film that underlines part of my love for Syfy movies, absurd situation mixed with awful GCI/Props tossed at actors.

*These movies are best viewed with others, their awfulness brings people together.  They are true bridge builders.
