Why I Love Senator Bernie Sanders

Reason #1:

Senator Sanders’ words and the truth in them will likely be dismissed by many people as he is a self professed Democratic Socialist.

That is a shame.

Socialism is a dirty word to most people.  But if they truly looked at the socialist aspects of our system, they would say they like them in practice.  Who doesn’t like roads or schools, or fire departments? Before you answer the last one, remember this guy.  All you have to do is look at what happened to poor Gene Cranick to see why privatizing everything, as the Right wants to do, would be horrible.

Senator Sanders votes his conscience and his position.  The Senate, Congress and this country would be a better place if everyone could say the same. Our country would be stronger if President Obama had stood up and gave the speech Senator Sanders did.

Mr. Obama touched on many of its themes in his remarks on Tuesday; reading off watered down lines from it such as “Let me say on the GOP side this is their holy grail – tax cuts for the wealthy – their central economic doctrine.”

It was a start.

It was not enough. The Right needs to be called out, and called out strongly for their platform and who they back. Thank you Senator Sanders for being a true man of the people and doing just that.  That is, being a true man of the middle class and poor people of this country.  There are far too few of you left in Washington.

For most people in Washington the middle class is simply disposable rhetoric that spills from their second faces whenever a microphone is placed in front of them; they need to show they care.

It is easy to imagine them sauntering away from the fading lights, wiping from their sneering lips any residue from their falsely pious concerns about middle class with a casual, derisive brush from the back of their hands. They are ready to do their real work, the will of their corporate masters.

Senator Sanders you walk the walk, and I thank you for that.
