Officially In For the 2012 Buffalo Half Marathon

I’ve had sweat in the game for sometime now, but today I plunked down the cheddar for my entry fee.  There is “skin” in the game now.  There is no turning back, not that the thought crossed my mind but once real money is involved things change a bit. (As I am finding out with house shopping…that stress is fueling my training this week.)

When I signed up for the Buffalo I had to put a finish time down.  I marked a 2:15:00, which is around 10:15 a mile.  It is a reasonable goal so long as the temperature stays down. This year running purity need not apply, an iPod will be in full force.

Last week was a productive training week.  21 miles were logged and the average pace was 10:10. There were two 4-5 mile runs, one 3 plus, and an 8.5 monster that had the (2nd, by a second) pace o slowest pace of the week, of 10:15.

Still I took three days off due to my work schedule and the compounding stress of house hunting.  With 5 (6 if you count the week before, but that is usually so light it does not rate) weeks of training left until May 27th.

There is a renewed vigor.  Tomorrow morning my 6 mile run will be sponsored by: putting an offer on a home for the first time.  The pace will be pushed…oh yes it will.
