Mikey or Tiger Shark Number 1: “Tactical Force”

Contrary to what my friend Craig thinks I am not like Mikey from the Life cereal commercials of yesteryear.  Mikey may have tried anything, but he also hated everything.  My tastes, especially in film, are not that discerning. (See my love of Syfy films as exhibit A.)

If anything I am more like the unfortunate Tiger Shark that was caught by the fisherman in “Jaws”, “like a garbage can, I’ll watch anything.”  That does not mean I won’t go Mikey on a film if it deserves it.

Case in point: “Tactical Force”, which I watched with two glasses of wine in my head early last Saturday.  Given my experience with “Stone Cold” in “Hunt To Kill”, I am not sure what I was thinking besides, “This wine is going down smooth.”   There was something though, perhaps the value added of Spawn himself Michael Jai White, that got me streaming the film.

It certainly was not this trailer, which features all the things that made the film what it was, subpar.

The opening set piece, which is meant to establish the titular force as bad-asses comes of as Cobra-lite with brighter lighting. The chew out scene from the trailer was mocked mercilessly in “The Last Action Hero”, and the end “twist” comes out of nowhere and makes no sense.

I am all for craptacular, this film was crap.

Mark this down as a Mikey.
